Mike Langford and Jackie Ranken are award winning  photographers who teach amateur and professional photographers about photographing the  New Zealand landscape. 

Based in Queenstown, they run 5 hour Photo Safaris to Paradise valley, the Rees Valley, The Nevis valley and Skippers Canyon.

Mount Cook Hooker Valley

Travelling from Twizel and back you will make photographs along the way as they present themselves. Your expert guides/instructors are there to help you with your camera craft and composition skills as well as take you to the best possible photographic opinions on the day.

This Photo Safari includes time spent of one of the most popular walks in Aoraki National Park. Mike or Jackie will help you to make photographs that 99% of the people who walk the track don’t get to make. This is a learning experience with two of New Zealand’s most experienced photographers.

Both are Grand Masters of the NZIPP and AIPP Photography Institutes. 

On this Photo Safari we travel from Twizel (in the Mackenzie Basin, Canterbury) through to the Hooker Valley  (In Mount Cook, Aoraki National Park) and back to Twizel.

Your tutors Mike Langford or Jackie Ranken will help you learn how to take your camera off automatic and fully utilise your camera in a creative as well as experimental ways. 

The day is spent photographing in places suited to the weather conditions, making photographs along the way as the light and scenery changes. Allowing you the time and circumstance to learn as well as express your own vision. Having an expert photographer on hand to receive constructive and appropriate feedback is an invaluable aspect of the experience. This is a learning experience with two of New Zealand’s most experienced photographers. 

This Photo Safari includes time spent on one of the most popular walks in Aoraki National Park. Mike or Jackie will help you to make photographs that 99% of the people who walk the track don’t think of making but this option is not available through the busy times of the years (Dec-Feb). In any case our specialty is in teaching you how to photograph subjects that others find difficult and camera techniques that you can use for the rest of your days.

Canon EOS 80D or Mirrorless EOS R cameras available for use on request (at no extra cost).

Departure times can be customised to suit your photographic goals.

Pickup and drop back to your accommodation.
